A Discussion of Bipolar I and How it Can Affect People with Intellectual Disabilities
Presented by Mike Jersey, LPC
Bipolar I Disorder is a mood disorder characterized by episodes of mania and major depression. Often when we observe shifts in mood in the people we work with, Bipolar Disorder comes to mind. However, are these indeed the signs and symptoms of Bipolar Disorder or could these symptoms be better explained by learning history or other diagnoses and conditions? This presentation will provide an overview of the signs and symptoms of Bipolar I Disorder, but more importantly, we will discuss how this disorder presents in people with Intellectual Disabilities.
